January 5th- TBD--Open Gym resumes for 2012. All kids and families are welcome to come for supervised basketball, ping pong, games and crafts from 5-8 each Thursday evening.Next Event
April 21st--"Mountain, Valley, and Village Gospel Singing and Picnic" on the Grounds of Slater Hall. Join us as we celebrate the praises of the voices of friends, family, and neighbors. This event is part of the efforts of the Slater Hall Citizens' Committee's effort to restore the historic Slater Hall.Upcoming Events
May 5th--"10th Annual Strawberry Festival" will be held on the grounds of Slater Hall. The festival is a fundraiser for two local non-profits-- Foothills Family Resources & Blue Wall Group May 20th--"Party on the Hill" Community Cookout. Join us for community block party for the family. June 15th (weather permitting)--"Summer Outdoor Movie Night," brought to you by Slater Hall Citizens' Committee and Foothills Family Resources. September (TBD)--Slater-Marietta High School & Slater Mill All Years reunion November 10--Veterans Day Salute and Classic Car Cruise-In December 9--After Parade Awards Ceremony and Receptionn with a visit from SantaPast Events:
3rd Annual Greenville Textile Heritage Celebration at The Upcountry History Museum, October 3rd from 10am-5pm and October 4th from 1pm-5pm.
“From Mill to Moon” July 18, 2009 – Event Photos
- Marked the 40th anniversary of the moon landing. Slater Mill played a part in the trip by manufacturing one of the fabrics in the astronauts’ space suits.
- More than a thousand people came out to see astronaut Piers Sellers.
- Slater Mill Reunion
- 137 former and presently employed mill workers from JPS Slater Mill reminisce with old friends. With a combined total of almost 19,000 years of service. Many with 30 or more years and the longest 53 years
- Slater-Marietta High School Reunion: Was held the evening of July 18 at the old high school gym at the present day Slater-Marietta Elementary School. From the last class of 1973 all the way back to the class of 1943 were represented.
